Defining a sampler definition


You can use the sampler administration views to create, change, or delete sampler definitions.

You can create a new definition by using the distributed default definition or by using another definition as a model.

To create a definition

  1. Access a sampler administration view.For information about accessing sampler administration views, see the following sections:
  2. Issue the EDIT primary command to start an edit session.The window information line changes from BROWSE to EDIT.
  3. Perform one of the following actions:

    • On the ISAMP view, issue the Add primary command to use the distributed default sampler definition as a model for the new definition.
    • On the ISAMP view, issue the Add line command next to the definition that you want to use as a model for the new definition.
    • On the ISAMPD view, issue the Add primary command to use the displayed definition as a model for the new definition.

    The add sampler definition dialog panel is displayed as shown in the following figure:

  4. Complete the fields. 
  5. (BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2304) (Optional) Specify the Workflow and CORT samplers. 

    The Workflow (WFlow Data) and CORT (CORT Data) samplers take samples from 1 to 5 times a second. Valid values for the Workflow and CORT sampling rates are from 1 through 5. The CORT sampler default is 2, and the Workflow sampler default is 5. To specify a lower rate for the Workflow sampler, use the WFLSAMPR parameter in the IMFBEX00 parameter member.

    Tip

    To reduce CPU consumption, choose a lower rate for these samplers.

  6. Issue one or more of the following primary commands:
    • SAVE to save the definition
    • END to save the definition and exit the ISAMP view
    • CANcel to discard the definition
    • INStall to activate the definition

To change a definition

  1. Access the ISAMP view (see Sampler-Administration-view-ISAMP).
  2. Issue the EDIT primary command to start an edit session.The window information line changes from BROWSE to EDIT.
  3. Use the CHA line command next to the definition that you want to use as a model for the new definition.The Change Sampler Definition panel is displayed.
  4. Make the changes and press End.The status of the definition is changed to Modified.
  5. Issue one or more of the following primary commands:
    • SAVE to save the definition
    • END to save the definition and exit the ISAMP view
    • CANcel to discard the definition
    • INStall to activate the definition

To delete a definition

  1. Access the ISAMP view (see Sampler-Administration-view-ISAMP).
  2. Issue the EDIT primary command to start an edit session.The window information line changes from BROWSE to EDIT.
  3. Use the DEL line command next to the definition that you want to delete.The status of the definition changes to one of the following statuses:
    • PendDel—The definition is marked for deletion. Sampling continues until the PAS (product address space) stops, after which the definition is deleted.
    • Deleted—The definition is deleted and sampling for the target is discontinued.
  4. Perform one of the following tasks:
    • Issue the END primary command to retain the deletion and exit the ISAMP view.
    • Issue the CANcel primary command to discard the deletion.
    • Use the UND line command next to the definition to discard the deletion.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
