Understanding the status of a historical data set

The Status field indicates the current state of a historical data set.

The following table shows the valid Status field values that can appear for a data set on the DSLIST view and explains what each value means in terms of reading or writing availability.

The historical recorder is currently writing historical data to this data set.

Error

There is an error condition with the data set.

Open

This data set was the most recent Active data set before the historical recorder switched to a different data set, but this data set has not been closed yet.

The Open status rarely occurs; it could indicate an impending error condition for the data set.
