Preparation for installing and customizing BMC II for z/OS

This chapter describes the different installation and customization procedures that you must complete before using the BMC Impact Manager product to view and act on MainView AutoOPERATOR ALERTs and events.

The following topics provide details:

  • Software environment

  • Disk space requirements

  • Installation and customization phases

Because BMC II for z/OS allows bidirectional communication with BMC Impact Manager through a TCP/IP connection, you must install components on z/OS and on the relevant cell (Microsoft Windows, UNIX from The Open Group, or Linux from Linus Torvalds). A cell is the event processing engine of each instance of a BMC Impact Manager.

The destination for event information from BMC II for z/OS can be a list of cells. BMC II for z/OS sends events to the listed cells and attempts to stay connected to all cells on the list.
