MainView Console Management web configuration


The MainView Console Management home page contains links for the following:

  • Administration
  • Configuration
  • Operator use

Administrator login

Clicking on this button will take you to a new page prompting for the MainView Console Management administrator user name and password. Entering the correct values and clicking the Login button will take you to the General Settings administration page, which is the starting point for MainView Console Management configuration and control.

Desktop software downloads

Clicking on this button will take you to a new page with a list MainView Console Management-related software downloads. Currently the only download available is the LDAP Authentication Tools package containing documentation and utilities for specialized authentication needs.
To download the software:

  1. Click on the Download button next to a listed package. 
  2. Save the file to the desktop.

Automation viewers

Clicking on this button will take you to a new page listing Automation Viewers that have been enabled for use with your browser.

Automation View
For each configured viewer there will be one or two links provide. 

  • Launch Applet - starts the viewer as a Java applet. This is currently only supported by Microsoft Internet Explorer. Neither Firefox nor Chrome support Java applets.
  • Web Start - This link will download a jnlp file and use Java Web Start to launch the viewer. By right clicking on the link and Save target as... (IE) or Save Link As... (Firefox, Chrome) you can save the jnlp file to your desktop computer. Double clicking on the file will launch the viewer (without having to use the browser each time). Note that if the software on your MainView Console Management server has been upgraded, you may need to download new jnlp files.

Whether or not each link is present depends on the Viewer Launch setting on the Access Control page in General Settings as set up by your administrator.

Console Consolidation Server (CCS) Consoles

Clicking on this button will take you to a new page listing CCS Consoles that have been enabled for use with your browser.

Change Password

Clicking this button takes you to a new page which allows you to change your password. This is applicable in the CCS Applet and the MainView Console Management viewer when using the internal MainView Console Management user authentication database.

Note

This button may be hidden by your administrator.

If you are using the optional MainView Console Management external authentication to validate users against enterprise sources such as Active Directory and RACF, you must change passwords outside of MainView Console Management.

Launches the Online help.
