BMC II for z/OS function

MainView AutoOPERATOR ALERTs and events flow from MainView AutoOPERATOR to the server on which BMC Impact Manager (BMC IM) resides.

BMC II for z/OS translates MainView AutoOPERATOR ALERTs and events into Basic Recorder of Objects in C (BAROC) events.

BMC II for z/OS sends BAROC messages and events to the server on which BMC Impact Manager resides. BMC Impact Manager then processes the event information according to the rules in its Knowledge Base. BMC II for z/OS can filter ALERTs and events to decrease network traffic and to decrease the processing load for BMC Impact Manager.

BMC Impact Integration for z/OS creates a relationship between MainView AutoOPERATOR and BMC Impact Manager that can be:

  • Many-to-one

  • Many-to-many

  • One-to-many

Figure 1 illustrates the bidirectional relationship between the products.

Figure 1. Event flow from MainView AutoOPERATOR to an Impact Manager cell

When MainView AutoOPERATOR sends events to BMC Impact Manager, the BMC Proactive Performance Management (BPPM) cell processes the event information the same way it processes event information from other BMC Impact Manager sources.
