Trace administration views

The trace administration views can be used to start, stop, and manage traces; view trace data; and manage trace logs.

The following table lists the views available for trace administration. These views can be accessed from the easy menu EZDBA, shown in EZDBA-Applications Menu.

The CT view is allowed only in target mode.

History Traces

Displays historical trace log data sets (TLDS) in the trace directory for Db2, IMS, and CICS systems

The HT view is allowed in both target mode and SSI mode; however, the context affects the view content and hyperlinks as follows:

  • Target mode displays all TLDSs of the requested target type (CICS, Db2, or IMS) defined in the trace directory of the current BBI-SS PAS, similar to the full-screen HT display. Target mode is required in order to display a TLDS if its target is inactive or not defined in the BBIJNT00 member (such as a TLDS that is imported by using the NEW command).
  • SSI mode displays TLDSs that are defined in the trace directories of multiple BBI-SS PASs. For MainView for DB2, the HT view displays only entries whose TLDS target name matches a target or alias name within the defined context.
  • If a Db2 TLDS target is available (defined in the BBIJNT00 member), the Trace Id field hyperlinks to thread history in the HTLOGS view. If the Db2 TLDS target is unavailable, Trace Id hyperlinks to the full-screen LTRAC display.

Tip

If you specify a Db2 target alias in BBPARM member BBIJNTxx, and you activate traces automatically at BBI-SS PAS startup through the use of the BBPARM member BBIISPxx parameter BLK, BMC recommends that you specify the same alias in both BBIJNTxx and BBIISPxx. Specifying the same alias in both members ensures that the same target name is displayed in windows mode views and full-screen displays (and prevents potential confusion). For example, if BBIJNTxx contains this line:

TARGET=DB2P,TYPE=DB2,SUBSYS=SSA1,RELEASE=0610,ALIAS=DB2P1

BBIISP00 should contain this line:

TARGET=DB2P1,BLK=BLKDMRW
