Upgrading

This section provides information about upgrading the BMC License Usage Collection Utility. 

Upgrading to 5.0.00

Upgrading from 4.7.01, 4.8.00 and 4.9.00 to 5.0.00 

  • Before upgrading from version 4.7.01 to version 5.0.00, you do not need to manually uninstall the previous version of BMC License Usage Collection Utility. The installation process automatically upgrades to the new version.
  • You must run the installer as an administrator user.
  • During the installation process, you have an option No to All to maintain the deployment settings from the previous version, or overwrite the deployment settings in the new version.

Upgrading from 4.5.00 to 5.0.00 

  • Upgrading to version 5.0.00 is not supported from 4.5.00 versions of the BMC License Usage Collection Utility.
  • Before upgrading to version 5.0.00, you must uninstall the previous version of BMC License Usage Collection Utility.

Upgrading to 4.9.00

Upgrading from 4.6.00, 4.7.01, and 4.8.00 to 4.9.00


  • Before upgrading from version 4.6.00 to version 4.9.00, you do not need to manually uninstall the previous version of BMC License Usage Collection Utility. The installation process automatically upgrades to the new version. 
  • You must run the installer as an administrator user.
  • During the installation process, you have an option No to All to maintain the deployment settings from the previous version, or overwrite the deployment settings in the new version.

Upgrading from 4.5.00 to 4.9.00


  • Upgrading to version 4.9.00 is not supported from 4.5.00 versions of the BMC License Usage Collection Utility.
  • Before upgrading to version 4.9.00, you must uninstall the previous version of BMC License Usage Collection Utility.

Upgrading to 4.8.00

Upgrading from 4.6.00 and 4.7.01 to 4.8.00

  • Before upgrading from version 4.6.00 to version 4.8.00, you do not need to manually uninstall the previous version of BMC License Usage Collection Utility. The installation process automatically upgrades to the new version.
  • You must run the installer as an administrator user.
  • During the installation process, you have an option No to All to maintain the deployment settings from the previous version, or overwrite the deployment settings in the new version.

Upgrading from 4.5.00 to 4.8.00 

  • Upgrading to version 4.8.00 is not supported from 4.5.00 versions of the BMC License Usage Collection Utility.
  • Before upgrading to version 4.8.00, you must uninstall the previous version of BMC License Usage Collection Utility.

Upgrading to 4.7.01

  • For customers using BMC License Usage Collection Utility version 4.7.00 and BNA 8.9.x and higher, we recommend upgrading to the license utility version 4.7.01. For more information, see Technical bulletins.

Upgrading to 4.7.00

Upgrading from 4.6.00 to 4.7.00

  • You do not have to manually uninstall a previous version of the license utility before upgrading from version 4.6.00 to version 4.7.00. The installation process will automatically upgrade to the new version.
  • When upgrading, run the installer as an administrator user. During the installation process, you will have the option ("No to All") to maintain the deployment settings from the previous version, or overwrite them in the new version. See Installing.
  • When upgrading, you will not need to enter a password in the One-time Install Key field (it will automatically update from version 4.6.00).

Upgrading from version 4.0.01 and 4.5.00 to 4.7.00

  • Upgrading to version 4.7.00 is not supported from 4.0.01 and 4.5.00 versions of the BMC License Usage Collection Utility.
  • You will need to uninstall previous versions before installing version 4.7.00. See Installing.

Upgrading to 4.6.00

Upgrading from version 3.x and 4.x to 4.6.00 

  • Upgrading to version 4.6.00 is not supported from any previous versions of the BMC License Usage Collection Utility. 
  • You will need to uninstall previous versions before installing version 4.6.00. See Installing.

Upgrading to 4.5.00

Upgrading from version 3.x

A new installation is required in order to access the user\logs and user\Reports directories.  

Upgrading from version 4.0.00

When installing, make sure to select the "Yes to all" option. This will remove all of the deployment details history and create a clean install copy. (For details, see #7 in Performing the installation.) 

Upgrading from 4.0.01 to 4.5.00

You do not have to manually uninstall a previous version of the license utility before upgrading from version 4.0.01 to version 4.5.00. The installation process will automatically upgrade to the new version.
When upgrading, run the installer as an administrator user. During the installation process, you will have the option ("No to All") to maintain the deployment settings from the previous version, or overwrite them in the new version.
