Accessing and navigating the license utility

This topic describes how to access the BMC License Usage Collection Utility user interface.

  1. From the Start menu, select All Programs > BMC Software > LicenseUsageCollector > Start LicenseUsageCollector.
    You can also navigate to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\LicenseUsageCollector\licenseusagecollector\startUI.bat.
  2. Select a tab to access features. The default tab appears depending on the following conditions:
    • If no deployments have been added, the Manage Deployment tab is selected by default.
    • If a deployment has been added, the License Report tab is selected by default.
    • If the dashboard has been configured, the Dashboard tab is selected by default.

Running the license utility as an administrator

If the BMC License Usage Collection Utility was installed in the default path (C:\Program Files\BMC Software\LicenseUsageCollector), you should launch the utility using the Run as Administrator option:

  1. From the Start menu, select All Programs > BMC Software > LicenseUsageCollector.
  2. Right-click Start LicenseUsageCollector, then select Run as Administrator.
Automatically running the license utility as an administrator

Local administrators can configure the utility shortcut to automatically run as an administrator. (The following does not apply to non-local administrators.)

To configure the shortcut:

  1. From the Start menu or the desktop, right-click the Start LicenseUsageCollector shortcut, select Properties.
  2. On the Shortcut tab of the Start LicenseUsageCollector Properties dialog box, click Advanced.
  3. On the Advanced Properties dialog box, select the Run as Administrator check box, then click OK.
  4. Click OK to close the Start LicenseUsageCollector Properties dialog box.
