TRANSIT keyword

You can use the TRANSIT keyword on the REPORTS control statement to display information about individual instances of transactions. This report is available only if the BMC AMI Ops Monitor for IMS product is installed.

Log Analyzer writes this report to the SYSOUT-type TRANSIT data set.

Specify the keyword as follows:

Information

TRANSIT=limit

TRANSIT=(limit,subkeywords)

Specify one of the following limit values:

  • ALL or 999999999

    Do not limit the number of lines that are written to the output report data set.

  • nnnnnnnnn

    Limit the number of output lines in the report to the specified number.

Specify one or more of the following subkeywords values:

  • CSVRPT

    Create the report in a comma-separated (CSV) format.

  • TIMESTAMP

    Display timestamps instead of elapsed time.

  • TOTALU

    Display total elapsed time using last free time. Using this subkeyword replaces the TOTAL column with TOTALU.

    Warning

    Note

    The TIMESTAMP and TOTALU subkeywords are mutually exclusive.

  • SORTBY=<column-name>

    For column-name, enter name of the column heading upon which you want the report sorted. Specify one of the following operators:

    • D - Sort the report in a descending order

No default value is provided. If you omit the TRANSIT keyword, Log Analyzer does not produce the TRANSIT report.

Here is an example of how to use these keywords:

Information
Example

TRANSIT=(ALL,SORTBY=TRAN)

TRANSIT=(ALL,TIMESTAMP)

Success

Tip

When you want to diagnose a new transaction issue by using Log Analyzer, you might want to start by obtaining the Transaction Instance report using the TRANSIT keyword. Log Analyzer can produce the Transaction Instance report quickly and with relatively low resource consumption, to provide you information about the transaction run time and more. For more detailed transaction diagnosis, you can use the UOW-1 values of the transactions as input to the UOW1 subkeyword of SELECT to run the analysis job to produce other reports specific to the required transactions.

Warning

Notes

  • To produce the TRANSIT report using the TRANSIT keyword, Log Analyzer focuses exclusively on the relevant records and does not create LUOWs.
  • If you specify the TRANSIT keyword, the following specifications are valid on the REPORTS control statement:
    • ABEND keyword
    • RBASTATS keyword
    • DEADLOCK keyword
  • If you specify the TRANSIT keyword, the following specifications are ignored:
    • INDEXFILE control statement
    • EXTRACT control statement
  • If you specify the TRANSIT keyword, the following filter SELECT subkeywords are valid:
    • TRAN
    • PSB
    • MPR
    • USERID
    • CONTENT
  • If you specify the TRANSIT keyword, the following specifications are invalid:
    • LOGRECORDCODES (LRC) keyword on the FILTER control statement
  • If you are using the CONTENT subkeyword on the SELECT keyword on the FILTER control statement with the TRANSIT report, here are some things to note:
    • The content filter for the TRANSIT report tests the content of records 01 , 03 SMB, and 5901.
    • The default filtering-target content is only the user data portion of 01, 03, and 5901 records.
    • Use the CONTENT0103 keyword controls to specify how Log Analyzer handles the search. For more information, see the CONTENT0103-keyword-for-the-FILTER-control-statement.
    • The filter results associate with the X’FA’ records with uow-1.

      Example 1
      SELECT=CONTENT=(C'ABC',01) OR CONTENT=(C'ABC',03) OR CONTENT=(C'UPDATE',59)

Example 2
CONTENT=(C'ABC',**)
