User synchronization configuration for BMC Remedy Smart Reporting

BMC Remedy Smart Reporting installation, installs the BMC Remedy Smart Reporting User Sync utility that automatically synchronizes user information from BMC Remedy AR System to BMC Remedy Smart Reporting. By default, the synchronization job is scheduled to run every 12 hours.

The following settings should be verified and updated, if required, to make sure that the BMC Remedy Smart Reporting User Sync utility works as expected.

  • (Only for version 9.1.03 and earlier) On the UDM:Import form search for the following files and make sure they exist:
    • ReportServerDetail_Vars.ktr
    • UserSyncTrans.ktr
    • UserSyncJob.kjb
  • (Only for version 9.1.03 and earlier) On the UDM:Execution form search for UserSyncInstance and verify that an entry has been created for it.

  • (Only for version 9.1.03 and earlier) On the BMC Remedy AR UDM Variable form search for the following values are correctly populated:

    BMC_AR_SERVER_HOST_NAMEBMC Remedy AR Server host name
    BMC_AR_PORTBMC Remedy AR Server host name
    BMC_AR_USERBMC Remedy AR Server administrator name
    BMC_AR_PASSWORDBMC Remedy AR Server password
  • (Only for version 9.1.03 and earlier) On the UDM:Execution Status form search for UserSyncUtil_Job and verify the execution status of the User Sync job. The following are the possible values for the status:

    Status

    Description

    WaitingIndicates that the job is waiting to be executed as per the schedule.
    RunningIndicates that the job is in progress.
  • (For version 9.1.04 and later) On the SmartReportingServer_Info form, ensure that the Report Server details were correctly populated after a successful onboarding.

    Where it states:
    • Search the AR UDM Import form for UserSyncJob_2.kjb file to verify that the BMC Remedy Smart Reporting installer imported the it successfully.

    my entry is "UserSynchJob_kjp" in this form, so is this a mistake in the docs? also the wording here isn't grammatical correct

    The last line states:

    Search the AR UDM Execution Status form for UserSyncUtil_Job to verify its execution status

    In the UDM Execution status my entry is at 'Waiting' status, no mention of if this is normal or not, how to run it manually? is it possible? just telling someone to check a status doesn't really help much.

To answer your query, the UserSyncUtil_Job goes to waiting state till it is executed as per the schedule.     I have found that form names are incorrect.

    In my instance on the UDM:ExecutionStatus form (note, no space between Execution and Status in the form name), the documented job name does not exist. I have a job called "UserSyncUtil_MSP_Job". It is in waiting status just like Colin Rolls' posting.

    This documentation is weak, unclear and incomplete... (sad)

    This documentation is extremely hard to follow. The form names don't appear to be correct. The form UDM:Execution doesn't even allow searches on it. It doesn't say how to fix it if a problem is found. I don't have any data at all in the form SmartReportingServer_Info and this was on boarded.

    Hello, Where is the user sync schedule specified? Can we change it? Can we run the sync manually ? I can see jobs UserSyncUtil_Job and UserSyncUtil_MSP_Job in Atrium Integrator, but they don't have any schedule not Job execution history, but user are synchronized normally. What is the difference between UserSyncUtil_Job and UserSyncUtil_MSP_Job ? Thank you

    Also, UserSyncUtil_MSP_Job is used in case of multi-tenancy or multi-company.
