Enabling broadcasting

You can schedule broadcasts for specific reports using BMC Remedy Smart Reporting, if you need report related updates to be sent out at regular intervals.

You need to perform the following procedures to set the broadcast schedule for a report:

  1. An Administrator must configure the SMTP settings. For more information, see the Yellowfin documentation about Outgoing Mail Server settings at Email Configurations.
  2. An Administrator must enable Broadcasting on the Data Source Connection.
  3. An Administrator must enable the Broadcasting Role Permissions for User Roles that require it.
  4. The Report Writer must enable Broadcasting on the Report.

As an Administrator you can manage the scheduled broadcast tasks.

This section describes the administration tasks involved in working with broadcasts.

Enabling broadcasts

For enabling scheduled broadcasts, an Administrator needs to enable the Broadcast and Subscribe options from the Administration Console.

  1. Log on to BMC Remedy Smart Reporting as an Administrator.
  2. Choose Administration > Admin Console > Data Source.
  3. Select the Data Source that is used for creating the report.
  4. Enable the Broadcast and Subscribe options, and save your selections.

Managing scheduled broadcast tasks

You can use the schedule list to search, view, edit, pause, run, and delete scheduled tasks.

To access the schedule list, go to Administration > Admin Console > Schedule Management.

To edit the schedule

  1. In the Admin Console, select Administration > Admin Console > Schedule Management.
  2. For a scheduled task, click Expand .
  3. Click Edit and make the required changes.
  4. Click Save.

To pause a scheduled task

  1. In the Admin Console, select Administration > Admin Console > Schedule Management.
  2. For a scheduled task, click .
  3. Click Pause.

To run a scheduled task

  1. In the Admin Console, select Administration > Admin Console > Schedule Management.
  2. For a scheduled task, click .
  3. Click Run now.

To delete a scheduled task

  1. In the Admin Console, select Administration > Admin Console > Schedule Management.
  2. Select the scheduled tasks that you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete.

To refresh schedules

  1. In the Admin Console, select Administration > Admin Console > Schedule Management.
  2. Click Refresh.

    Hello, Under Enable Broadcasting, Step 1 says to configure Email configuration the hyperlink redirects to nowhere. Anyways, can you advise what kind of email configuration is to setup to enable broadcasting. Is it under ITSM or Reporting can you able to provide those kind of steps. Thanks in advance.

      Hello Kareem Syed,

      You need to configure settings such as email address, notifications, SMTP server, port, and so on. I have updated the link in Step.1, pointing to the Yellowfin documentation that covers the details of all the necessary email-related settings. You need to do those settings in Remedy Smart Reporting.
