Are there any other statuses outside of 'Repair' and 'Down'? If not, when will the rest of the statuses be available so you can make changes to the asset throughout its life cycle?

Is there a place in the docs where this - "
Make sure that the barcode is encoded with the Serial Number of the Asset CI."
is described in more detail? If so, might be good to link to it. I know MyIT can generate QR codes, but that's different from assets in the CMDB....
take the Tag or Serial Number and just encode it. e.g. here http://www.barcode-generator.org/
