Product categorization structure

Unknown macro: {multi-excerpt} The Product Categorization structure is defined as Tier 1 > Tier 2 > Tier 3 > product name and manufacturer > model version, which is used to categorize different products or configuration items (CIs) in the BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database (BMC Atrium CMDB).

Product categorization can be associated with different processes for different companies. For more information about BMC Atrium CMDB, Accessing the BMC Atrium CMDB and BMC Atrium Core applicationsFinding BMC Atrium CMDB data, and BMC Atrium Core components.

Is there a spreadsheet that I can download that shows all of the default product tier values? I want to look at the values before they are entered in the data management tool.

Hi Greg, starting with BMC ITSM 8.1 Service Pack 2 (8.1.02), the Data Management Onboarding wizard can provide you with a spreadsheet of "model" data for the Product Catalog. Model data is a pre-defined set of typical data. You can use this model data to seed your new installation with data types that you might not currently have.

If you open this link, then search the topic for Model Data, you'll find out more information about model data: https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/itsm81/Onboarding+Foundation+and+Assignment+data%2C+version+8.1.02+and+later

If you open this link, https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/itsm81/Best+practice+use+case%3A+Using+model+data+to+quickly+load+foundation+data and then look for the Product Catalog heading, you'll see a link that downloads the actual model data spreadsheet for product catalog.

Hope that helps? Let me know if you need anything else.
