Registering the BMC Helix ITSM web service

You can integrate external applications with BMC Helix ITSM by using web services that eliminate the need to create API applications. For example, you might want to have an event occur in an event-based system that causes the web services client to connect to BMC Helix ITSM and create an incident, problem, change, or purchase order ticket.

To work with BMC Helix CMDB web services, you must register your services. The BMC Helix CMDB Web Services Registry enables clients to obtain information about available services. The services registry is compliant with the Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) standard. For more information about the Web Services Registry, see  Learning about BMC Helix CMDB web services Open link

Best practice

We recommend that you register all or none of the BMC Helix ITSM services.

The AR System Web Services Registry form and its workflow provide an interface to the BMC Helix CMDB Web Services Registry. A web service is registered by creating a request in the form and enabling it. Changing a setting removes the registration. If the registry is unavailable, the workflow attempts to register or deregister the web service later. The form also reports whether the web service is registered.

Before you begin

Ensure that the Java plug-in server is installed and operating.

You must configure a connection to the BMC Atrium Web Services Registry in the WS Registry Integration tab of the AR System Administration: Server Information form. For more information, see  Configuring the Web Services Registry integration Open link .
