Configuring a default home page

When you log into the BMC Helix ITSM application, the Overview Console in the IT Home page appears as the default Home page. From the IT Home page, you can open the Applications menu to select the application or administration console you want. However, if your role in the organization requires you to use a console other than the default, you can configure the system to display that console as your default Home page.

To configure a home page for new users

Administrators use this procedure to set up a home page for new individual users. To perform this procedure you must have the permissions necessary to create new users in the system. The following procedure assumes that you have already set up a new user profile, as described in Creating or modifying People data Open link

  1. Log into BMC Helix ITSM as the user for whom you created the new profile.
  2. Open one of the application consoles that the user has access to, for example: BMC Helix ITSM: Service Desk.
  3. From the console navigation pane, click Application Preferences.
  4. From the Application Preferences dialog box, select the appropriate home page from the Default Home Page field menu.
  5. Click Save.
