This section answers frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the Installation System and the documentation portal.
FAQs pertaining to the Installation System.
No. After installing the Installation System once, you can use it for multiple installations.
Use the maintenance component of the Installation System. For more information, see Maintaining your products.
Most of them use the Installation System now, and the remainder will begin using it in the future; implementation will occur in a phased approach. For a list of the currently supported products, see Supported products.
Passwords are required for running BMC products and solutions, but not for installing them.
All require passwords except MainView Explorer, RxD2/FlexTools, and RxD2/Link.
Use the provided Sample JCL.
If the terminal uses a non-English alphabet or a translation table, you will get error messages, especially when trying to move past the Select Products panel (BMIPC1A) during installation. Determine whether you are using usermods that will translate BMC installation code to your country's language. The recommended terminal type is 3278.
FAQs pertaining to the documentation portal.
- From the Tools menu in the upper-right, select Export to PDF.
- Select the type of PDF that you want:
- Only this page for a PDF of the current page
- This page and its children for a PDF of the current page and all of its child topics
Depending on the number of topics included in the export, it might take several minutes to create the PDF. After the export is complete, you can download the PDF.
