Updating the Installation System
Periodically, the Installation System is updated for:
- Support of new product releases. This is the most common reason the Installation System is updated.
- Corrective maintenance to the Installation System.
Use one of the following procedures to update the Installation System.
Important
The exact procedure varies based on which FTP method is specified in the Site Wide Default Values panel.
To update the Installation System when using standard FTP
On the Installation System Main Menu, select Check for Installation System Update.

On the BMC Installation System Update panel, select Generate and submit the update job.

When you exit the edit panel, you also exit the Installation System.- When the job completes successfully, restart the now updated Installation System.
To update the Installation System when using SFTP or FTPS
On the Installation System Main Menu, select Check for Installation System Update.

When you exit the edit panel, you also exit the Installation System.- Review the output of the job to see if an update was available, and if so, if the update was successfully processed.
- When the job completes successfully, restart the Installation System.
To update the Installation System when using physical media or distributed FTP
Use the following procedure to manually download the Installation System Update (ISU) files and upload them to your z/OS system.
To download the ISU files
- Log in to
https://epddownload.bmc.com
by using valid mainframe credentials. For more details, see File server and certificate information. - Navigate to the bmc > esd > ozi > ga directory.
In the search field, enter bmco9 and press Enter. The search returns the following files:
bmco9r-4xxxx-image.bin
bmco9t-4xxxx-whatsnew.txtImportant
These files will not be available if there are no updates to the Installation System.
- Download the files to your local machine.
To upload the ISU files to your z/OS system
- On your z/OS system, allocate the mainframe files by using the following specifications:
rec=fb lr=80 blk=6160 cy pri=25 sec=10 - Upload the following files to the required location:
- Binary format:
Upload the bmco9r-4xxxx-image.bin file to HLQ.TEMP.O9R.IMAGE ASCII format:
Upload the bmco9t-4xxxx-whatsnew.txt file to HLQ.BMC.O9R.WHATSNEW.TEXT
- Binary format:
On the Installation System Main Menu panel, select Check for Installation System Update.

Important
If your downloaded files use different names, change the applicable data set names in the job accordingly.

Hello, I'm trying to update our installation system from V3.11 to the current release 3.14, but I get "no updates available" when selecting option 6 (check for installation system update). Any idea why ?
Note : I tried to solve this first by opening a case, but I couldn't find "installation system" in the product list.

How do i get the latest Installation System, via a web browser?
