Maintenance types
The following table describes the types of available maintenance that we provide.
Maintenance type | Description |

Recommended Service Level (RSL) | RSL files contain program temporary fixes (PTFs) and HOLDDATA for products. We have certified PTFs against the IBM Recommended Service Update (RSU). You can obtain quarterly RSL maintenance at any time by using IBM SMP/E RECEIVE ORDER. |
PTFs | You can obtain individual PTFs at any time by using IBM SMP/E RECEIVE ORDER. |
SMP/E service files (packaged with the corresponding products on the installation media) | SMP/E service files contain additional maintenance to be applied during installation to bring the product to the GA level or to a specific RSL level. |
Maintenance schedule
Recommended Service Level (RSL) maintenance is available on a quarterly basis. We release a technical bulletin to alert you when a new RSL is available. You can sign up for proactive alerts at theBMC Support Central.
RSL maintenance is labeled as RSLyymm:
- yy is the last two digits of the calendar year.
- mm is the two digits that represent the month.
The following RSL releases are scheduled or available. Click an available RSL number to list the PTFs contained in the RSL. A brief description of each PTF is included.
