FAQs pertaining to the Installation System.
Do I have to install the Installation System multiple times?
No. After installing the Installation System once, you can use it for multiple installations.
How do I perform maintenance for my products?
Use the maintenance component of the Installation System. For more information, see Maintaining-your-products.
Do all mainframe-based BMC components, products, and solutions use the Installation System?
Most of them do. For a list of the currently supported products, see Supported-products.
When are passwords required?
Passwords are required for running BMC products and solutions, but not for installing them.
Do all BMC Software components, products, and solutions that use the Installation System require passwords?
Most mainframe BMC products that use the Installation System require a CPU authorization password. For more information, see Authorizing.
How do I get the Installation System?
Use the provided Sample-JCL.
Can the country setting for my terminal cause errors during an installation?
If the terminal uses a non-English alphabet or a translation table, you will get error messages, especially when trying to move past the Select Products panel (BMIPC1A) during installation. Determine whether you are using usermods that will translate BMC installation code to your country's language. The recommended terminal type is 3278.

How can I get a PDF of selected content in a space?

- Page order—If you export more than one page to PDF, they might be displayed in alphabetical order instead of the order in the interface.
- Interface update—The export interface options are changing, so these instructions might not match them exactly.
- Known limitations—PDF exports are not always completed successfully.

- If you are not logged in, click the head icon at the top-right of the window, select Log in, and follow the instructions:

- Navigate to the page that you want to export to PDF. To create a PDF of the whole space, navigate to the space home page.
- Next to the page title, click Export
. - In the Export dialog box, click PDF:

- In the Export as PDF dialog box, perform one of these steps:
- To create a PDF of that page only, proceed to step 6.
- To create a PDF of that page and its child pages, click select all.
- To create a PDF of that page and a selection of its child pages, select the checkboxes next to the pages that you want to include your PDF.
- Click Export.
In the PDF Export Options dialog box, select the checkboxes for the features that you want to include in your PDF.
Tip
If you are creating a PDF of a single page, clear the Table of Contents checkbox.
- Click Export.
The PDF is created. - Save the PDF locally.

- All versions of the product and their current support levels (full or limited)

Where can I get the security certificates required to transfer files to BMC Support?
