Generating custom schema for connectors

As the BMC Helix Integration Studio administrator, you can generate a custom schema for a connector by importing custom fields to the connector configuration.

The term custom field refers to a customer-created field that is added to an application schema to meet a specific business need. For example, customers who are using both Atlassian JIRA and BMC Remedyforce can have a custom Remedyforce Incident ID field for mapping purposes. In this case, imported JIRA custom fields will overwrite the default JIRA schema in BMC Integration Service, so that the Remedyforce Incident ID field can be accessed while a flow is created or updated.

Custom schemas can also be used for the purpose of applying configuration-specific transformations of the mapped fields. For more information, see Transforming mapped fields.

The following connectors currently support generating custom schemas:

  • Atlassian JIRA
  • Remedy ITSM
  • Remedyforce
  • Salesforce

To generate or re-generate a custom schema

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Integration Studio.
  2. Go to Catalog > Connectors, and select an appropriate connector.
  3. Expand the connector pane at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Click Custom fields.
  5. Add a connector configuration, if required.
  6. Add a user account, if required.
  7. Click Generate if you have not imported custom fields for this connector before, or Regenerate if you have.

After the generation is complete, the new schema's creation date appears in the Creation date column.

If a custom schema is used, please re-generate the schema to ensure relevant actions appear in BMC Helix Platform.
