Navigating BMC Helix Innovation Studio

BMC Helix Innovation Studio is a graphic-based interface used to develop and tailor Digital Service applications or libraries. BMC Helix Innovation Studio provides designers that can be used to create views, records, and business logic for an application or a library. 

BMC Helix Innovation Studio UI includes the following tabs:

After you have created and deployed an application, you can view and access the application in BMC Helix Innovation Studio.

After you log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio, a welcome screen appears and the Workspace tab opens by default. 


In BMC Helix Innovation Studio, the main navigation bar appears at the top of each page and provides menus that help you navigate the application.

Enables you to switch between the overlay groups that are available in BMC Helix Innovation Studio.

Displays a list of all applications that are deployed in BMC Helix Innovation Studio.

Displays a list of all libraries that are deployed in BMC Helix Innovation Studio.

The Administration page provides configuration settings to manage BMC Helix Innovation Studio.

2Search Configuration

Searches for a configuration

Enter a configuration that you want to search, for example, Tenant. A list of all the configuration names containing the term Tenant are displayed.

From the Workspace page, you can click any application or library. On the application or library details page, you can view and customize the definitions by using different designers.

Enables you to localize—that is, change the language and locale settings—of your smart bundle, application definitions, and data.

After you localize a smart bundle, you can view the application UI and error messages in the preferred language.

2Visit Deployed Application

Provides a visual representation of the application after it is deployed in BMC Helix Innovation Studio.

3EditEnables you to create the header and navigation for an application with inbuilt navigation and framework services by using BMC Modern Shell.

Provides the following capabilities:

  • Create or modify record definitions
  • Customize the data model of an application
5Views

Displays the Views designer, which provides the following capabilities:

  • Create or modify view definitions
  • Customize the UI of an application

Displays the Process designer, which provides the following capabilities:

  • Create or modify processes
  • Customize the processes related to an application
7Rules

Displays the Rules designer, which provides the following capabilities:

  • Create or modify rules
  • Customize the business rules related to an application
8Associations

Displays the Associations designer, which enables you create or modify associations among record definitions.

9Named ListsDisplays the Named Lists designer, which enables you to customize a list of name-value pairs used in a drop-down menu of an application.
10ConfigurationsDisplays the Configurations designer, which enables you to specify configuration settings and configuration functions for an application.

In BMC Helix Innovation Studio, you can set the UI preferences by performing the following steps:

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Administration tab.
  2. Select General > UI preferences.
  3. To add new preferences, click the + icon, enter the details in the required fields, and click Save.

  4. To delete an existing preference, click  icon.

Tip

If you have modified a UI preference, to view the modifications refresh or re-login to BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
