DBD keyword

Use the DBD keyword to specify the name of the database to process.

Uses

The DBD value is part of the name assigned to the database-specific options module. It is required on the following control statements:

  • IC and AIC
  • OIC and AOIC
  • CIC and ACIC
  • IIC and AIIC
  • REC and AREC
  • TRACE

Related keywords

AREA and DDN

Syntax

DBD(dbdName)

Values

Specify the DBD name (1-8 alphanumeric characters). For a High Availability Large Database (HALDB), specify the master DBD name.

DBD keyword can have wildcards characters such as *, %, and ? for the IC, AIC, CIC, ACIC, OIC and AOIC commands.

  • The first character of the DBD name cannot be a wildcard character (*, % or ?).
  • When wildcard characters are specified in the DBD name, the DDN/AREA keywords are not allowed in the command.
  • The ICP job must run with DBRC(Yes) to use the wildcard in a DBD name.

A single asterisk (*) can only be specified as the last character of the DBD name mask. All the characters starting from the location of the single asterisk and up to the eighth character of the DBD name will be ignored from comparison when selecting the DBD name for an image copy.

A question mark (?) or a percent sign (%) character represents a single character wildcard and indicates the character at that position to be ignored from comparison when selecting the DBD names. There can be one or more single character wildcards (? or %) in a mask.

Examples follow:

DBD name

Description

IC  DBD(DBRC *)   IC((*,DASDMDL))

Selects all DBD names starting with the characters ‘DBRC’.

IC  DBD(D*)           IC((*,DASDMDL))

Selects all DBD names starting with the character “D”.

IC DBD(A?B*)       IC((*,DASDMDL))

Selects all DBDs with first character ‘A’ and the third character ‘B’.

IC DBD(A?B%D*)  IC((*,DASDMDL))

Consists of multiple wildcard characters in the mask.

IC DBD(AB??)       IC((*,DASDMDL))

Selects all the DBD names starting with ‘AB’ and 4 characters in length.

IC  DBD(*)            IC((*,DASDMDL))

An error can be identified as the first character cannot be a wild card.

IC  DBD(A*B)       IC((*,DASDMDL))

An error can be identified as the asterisk is not the last character.

IC  DBD(A*)  DDN(ABC)  IC((*,DASDMDL))

An error can be identified as DDN keyword is not allowed when a wildcard is specified.
