Stop/Start Applications

During onboarding, you or your designated onboarding partner may require to stop or start applications. This is common when migrating data from on premises systems to the BMC cloud. Users can start applications in Quiet Mode or Regular Mode.

Quiet Mode is used during the development phase to turn off Alerts and Monitoring, disable Escalations and Archiving, and to enable Admin-Only mode. This ensures any processes and services running on BMC Helix ITSM will not interfere with your development work. 
Regular Mode is used during the unit testing phase to turn Alerts and Monitoring back on, re-enable Escalations and Archiving, and to disable Admin-Only mode. This ensures your environment is restored with default options and will proceed with regular operations.

To initiate a stop or start applications, navigate to Support Central > Case Management > Lifecycle Requests. Ensure the environment selected is a "-dev" environment and the Stop/Start operation will appear as an option under the Lifecycle Requests selection.
