With the "per asset - average server endpoint - SaaS" unit of measurement, a subscription is required for the highest monthly average of server endpoints monitored, managed or discovered by the service. “Server endpoints” include any virtual or physical computer that provides a service for other computers or users connected to it via the Internet, extranet, intranet, or other networked technologies. Each virtual machine, regardless of the environment it is hosted in, is considered a server endpoint.

With the "per asset - average device endpoint - SaaS" unit of measurement, a subscription is required for the highest monthly average of device endpoints monitored, managed or discovered by the service. A “device endpoint” is a network device (such as a router, switch or hub), either standalone or a chassis-based device/card/processor, using a unique IP address. A device endpoint also includes virtual network devices managed through the IP address of its physical host.

With the "per asset - average serverless asset endpoint - SaaS" unit of measurement, a subscription is required for the highest monthly average of serverless assets monitored, managed or discovered by the service. “Serverless assets” include any type of cloud computing service  (i.e., private, public or hybrid) that does not require access to the underlying assets such as servers.

With the "resource unit" unit of measurement, a subscription is required for the highest monthly average of Resource Units monitored, managed or discovered by the service. A Resource Unit (RU) is any type of physical data center asset or cloud computing service with the corresponding values determining the license capacity and subscription services consumed. The following details the list of supported RUs by asset type and their corresponding value: 1 RU = 5 containers; 1 RU = 5 client devices (e.g., laptop, mobile device, or other hardware device permitting access to the Subscription Service(s)); 1 RU = 5 network devices; 1 RU = 5 PaaS resources; 1 RU = 1 Server; 1 RU = 5 storage ports; 1 RU = 5 telecommunication devices; 1 RU = 10 IoT devices, 1 RU = 1 undocumented asset. For example, if the desired License Capacity consists of 100 servers, 50 containers and 50 network devices, the License Capacity would equate to 120 RUs.


 Additional license terms

The following additional terms apply to the BMC Helix Operations Management service:

  • BMC Helix Dashboards and BMC Helix Portal are included as entitlements
  • Licensing terms and conditions are as defined in the governing master agreement and take precedence over any published description from this site.
  • Entitlements are subject to change.
  • Data retention and storage limitations apply as follows:

    The sentry links for BHOM takes to a page which shows Sentry for TrueSight Operation management , does that mean the same SKU's and options will be applicable to Sentry for BHOM as well . 

    Also , as per the pricing options , there are multiple SKU's for Sentry Monitoring Studio for BHOM and can you confirm that pls.

      Hi Graham,

      The 1 GB per 1,000 assets with 1 day of retention is just a small amount of log analytics that is included when a customer purchases BMC Helix Operations Management - Monitoring and/or Event Management licenses.  The number of assets does not have an impact if a customer purchases the "BMC Helix Operations Management – 1 GB Log Analytics (xx Day Retention)".  The "BMC Helix Operations Management – 1 GB Log Analytics (30 Day Retention)" SKU is a monthly subscription that gives the customer 1 GB of daily ingestion with 30 days of retention for each quantity purchased.  For example, if you buy quantity of 2, you get 2 GB of daily ingestion with 30 day retention.  When you purchase this Log Analytics SKU, it does not matter how many assets you have.

    Would someone be able to clarify when the log ingestion size is reset? When is the daily flag reset for logs to flow in again?

    Is it a calculated 24hours? Or does it reset at midnight for a certain time zone? Or something else that begins the “new day” of allowing log ingestion to start again?

      The daily ingestion is based on the time zone where the service is hosted.  For instance, if the Log Analytics service is running in northern Virginia, the day = 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM ET.

            • BMC Helix Operations Management (includes BMC Helix AIOps and BMC Helix Log Analytics)
            • BMC Helix Discovery

            You can find license information for BMC Helix Operations Management on the License entitlements page. For features that are available in various components, please see the Features available with Standard and Advanced licenses section on the same page.

              I know that ITOM onPrem includes the above products and includes BHOM, But actually, I found that ITOM is only applicable to be installed on the container architecture. Is it correct?

              So if our customer doesn't have a containers platform like OpenShift for example, he should use legacy systems like Linux or Windows, So he will install BHOM stand-alone. Is it correct or is BHOM also only supported on the Container Platform?

                Yes, Its same as SAAS product which is containerized microservice based architecture can be deployed only on container platform.

                We have several container platform supported by ITOM OnPrem. Refer this for all the supported platforms and other system requirements.
