Onboarding

After you subscribe to BMC Helix Platform, BMC sends you the details of the systems configured for you through an email. The out-of-the-box setup does not include any data, and therefore administrators must perform a few steps to set up their BMC Helix Platform environment. You can tailor the environment according to your organizational requirements.

The following image provides an overview of the process:

The following table provides a logical sequence to set up your BMC Helix Platform environment:

BMC - Configure product activation

BMC sends you an activation email that contains environment details and system information like login URL and administrator credentials. You are provided with three separate setup environments as follows:

  • Tailoring environment—Used to customize the out-of-the-box applications.
  • QA environment—Used to test the custom applications before they are released to production environment.
  • Production environment—Used to deploy the application to the environment, such that it is available to all users in the organization.

Note: Out-of-the-box Remedy Single Sign-On is configured to use the user accounts within a BMC Remedy AR System server for authentication.

However, if you are using SAML-based authentication within your organization and want to configure Remedy SSO to use that for authentication, you must submit a request to BMC Support for the Remedy SSO configuration with SAML.
