Tailoring applications
As an application business analyst, you can tailor a Digital Service application that is deployed in BMC Helix Innovation Studio. For example, a developer deployed an application to onboard new hires that requires employee details such as first name, last name, employee ID, and so on. The application mostly meets your requirements; however, your organization wants to start tracking employee assets and employee skills as part of the onboarding process. In BMC Helix Innovation Studio, by using the same development tool, an application business analyst can customize the onboarding application record definitions and add the fields to the employee details.
Perform the following tasks to tailor an application:
Action | Reference |
---|---|
Modify the application data model by creating, editing, or deleting the record definitions and named list definitions in the Record designer and Named list designer. | Defining record definitions to store and manage data |
Change the application interface by modifying the view definition elements in the View designer. | Defining the user interface through view definitions |
Modify the business process model (application business logic) in the Process designer. | Defining the application business logic through processes |
Change the business rules (interactions with business processes) by editing the business rules in the Rule designer. | Adding rules to validate data or trigger events in a process |
Define application events and its attributes to derive usage metrics for that event. | Tracking application events to generate usage reports |
Design a special configurable view by using BMC Modern Shell. | Creating and customizing application views by using Shell |
