Creating or modifying Organization data

Organization data represents a group of people with a common purpose specific to a business. The first step in creating a standard data model for your application is to create an organization. Everything else that you create in the data model belongs to the organization. In BMC Helix Platform Foundation library, you can create primary organizations and sub-organizations or secondary organizations. For more information about the types of Organization data, see Organization-data.

To create a primary organization

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Administration tab.
  2. Select Foundation Data > Manage Organizations > Primary Organizations and click New
The following image shows the navigation to create a new primary organization:

  3. To create primary organization, on the New Primary Organization page, in the General tab, fill out the following fields:
    1. In Organization Name, provide a meaningful name for the organization.
    2. From the Primary organization type list, select the types that the primary organization belongs to. You cannot create new types of primary organizations.
    3. From the Status list, set the status for the organization. This indicates the organization's activity level, such as Enabled or Obsolete.
    4. In the Notification Email List field, enter a semi colon -separated list of email addresses.
    5. From the Domain tag list, select the domain-specific tags for your organizations. This restricts the organization data to the specified domains. For more information about domain tags, see Filtering-Foundation-data-by-domain.
  4. (Optional) In the Other Details tab, fill out the required fields.
  5. Click Save.

To create a secondary organization

After creating primary organization, you can create secondary organizations that are business units, departments, or support groups. You cannot create new types of secondary organizations.
