Product overview

Today's IT industry faces the challenge of an enormous amount of data generated from on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. In these scenarios, it is difficult for IT operations teams to ensure optimum system performance and availability. BMC Helix Operations Management offers proactive solutions to meet these challenges. With BMC Helix Operations Management , you can collect the right data for monitoring and ensure availability by detecting anomalies in the system before they become problems.

BMC Helix Operations Management is a part of the BMC Helix IT Operations Management (ITOM) solution and is a SaaS and an on-premises containerized solution on  BMC Helix Portal .   BMC Helix Operations Management offers the following advantages with a modern user experience for automated workflows to streamline monitoring and event management processes:

  • A cloud-native containerized microservices architecture that enables fast deployment and upgrades
  • Elastic scalability
  • Enterprise-grade high availability and performance
  • Reduced infrastructure costs that come with a SaaS deployment model
  • Large-scale ingestion of events and metrics

BMC Helix AIOps

BMC Helix AIOps is a multi-layered technology platform that leverages big data to automate and enhance IT operations through analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML). It uses predictive capabilities to proactively improve the performance and availability of IT services across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.

In modern SaaS-enabled environments, organizations need to ensure that their key business services are performing at optimum levels, with minimal downtime.  BMC Helix AIOps helps organizations achieve these goals by using AI/ML-powered algorithms to not only to understand the health, performance, and availability of services, but also enable them to comprehensively investigate the probable and root causes of the impact on services.

You can use BMC Helix AIOps together with BMC Helix Operations Management for monitoring, advanced anomaly detection, AI/ML-based event management and root cause isolation, open integrations, and intelligent automation to reduce the mean time to resolve (MTTR) issues and maximize service performance and availability.

BMC Helix Dashboards

BMC Helix Dashboards offers unified reporting and gives you a consolidated view of data from applications across your environment. The consolidated view of dashboards helps you perform tasks such as responding to issues quickly so that system downtime is minimized. You can create, export, and share interactive and customizable dashboards with users within or outside your environment. You can also improve the efficiency of your system by monitoring the key performance metrics.

You can use dashboards to view interactive reports of event and metric data that is generated in BMC Helix Operations Management .

BMC Helix Log Analytics

Analyze long log files from multiple environments and applications and get to the root cause of the issue that you are troubleshooting by using BMC Helix Log Analytics .

With DevOps and multicloud adoption, logging has become harder than ever. Architecture has evolved into microservices, containers, and orchestration infrastructure deployed on the cloud (public and private), or in hybrid environments. Also, the volume of data generated by these environments is constantly growing, which constitutes a challenge in comprehending logs. BMC Helix Log Analytics helps you to analyze the log files from multiple environments. It provides a wealth of insights into the usage, health, and performance of your environments, together with a set of integrated capabilities for detecting and troubleshooting issues. It simplifies and accelerates the process of collating, normalizing, and parsing your logs to make it available for analysis. It is an open, scalable, and secure product that reduces the time required to search log files to troubleshoot an issue.

BMC Helix Log Analytics creates evets in BMC Helix Operations Management based on the search criterial in logs.

Collect data

The solution collects metrics about the components that you are monitoring in your infrastructure, such as the Oracle database or the Windows operating system. You monitor the environment with the help of PATROL Agents and knowledge modules (KMs).

Detecting anomalies

Anomalies are observations that diverge from a well-structured data pattern or an irregular spike in the time-series data or unclassifiable data points within a specific data set. An anomaly could occur independently or due to a combination of factors. For example, the combination of slow response time and high memory utilization together may impact the expected system behavior.

As an administrator, create alarm and variate policies to help you monitor and manage the health of your system and detect anomalies. These policies can also help you detect abnormal behavior in your monitoring data more accurately by reducing:

  • False positives: Scenarios where an alarm is raised even though the system exhibits normal behavior.
  • False negatives: Scenarios where the product failed to raise an alarm despite the occurrence of an abnormal metric condition.

Monitoring and investigating services and situations

You can monitor system health, reduce event noise, perform probable cause analysis of impacted services, and boost the remediation opportunities for services and situations in your environment.

The key performance indicators (KPIs) provide a quick-peek summary of the overall system health status. Situations reduce event noise by dynamically aggregating events based on an event correlation policy to derive actionable insights. You can perform probable cause analysis for impacted services.
