Integrating by using BMC Helix Developer Tools

As a tenant administrator, you can use BMC Helix Developer Tools to integrate with multiple products to collect event, topology, and services data. You can view this data in BMC Helix Operations Management, BMC Helix Discovery, and BMC Helix AIOps

BMC Helix Developer Tools enables you to:

  • Integrate with TrueSight Operations Management to monitor events and services.
  • Build custom integrations for the third-party products for which out-of-the-box integrations are not available.
  • Collect logs from various sources such as Amazon Web Services, Kubernetes, Windows- and Linux-based applications, and so on.

You integrate with a product by using a connector, which is a container based on Fluentd that can host multiple integrations. It facilitates data collection and consumption from the integrated products.

For example, if you want to get TrueSight Operations Management events into BMC Helix Platform to monitor these events, you can configure the TrueSight Operations Management integration easily by using a BMC Helix Developer Tools connector.

As a tenant administrator, use BMC Helix Developer Tools to connect to various BMC and third-party products to get events, topology, and services data, as described in the following table:

Identify deprecated integrations, and configure these integrations by using BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations

The Dynatrace and SolarWinds integrations that were configured before the 22.1 release are now deprecated.

You can edit a deprecated integration instance. However, you cannot configure a new instance of the deprecated integration. BMC recommends that you use BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations to configure these integrations afresh.

For more information, see Managing deprecated integrations.

5Derive actionable insights
  • View key performance indicators and entities from all the integrated products on the Overview page of BMC Helix AIOps. The consolidated summary on the Overview page helps you to quickly visualize and assess the health of your infrastructure environment. For more information, see Monitoring key performance indicators and entities Open link .
  • Monitor services and determine the most likely causes of any issue in an infrastructure environment by correlating millions of monitoring data points and analyzing the relationship between infrastructure nodes and services. For more information, see:

    • Performing causal analysis of impacted services Open link
  • Use a centralized event view to monitor and manage events, perform event operations, and filter events. Identify actionable events from a large volume of event data by processing events in various ways. For more information, see  Monitoring events and reducing event noise. Open link .
  • Detect anomalies and eliminate false positives. Use alarm and variate policies to detect anomalies through static and dynamic thresholds. For more information, see Detecting anomalies by using static and dynamic thresholds. Open link .
