Creating new Manager runs

To create a Manager run, perform the following task:

  1. Navigate to Administration > Gateway Manager > Gateway Operations > Create New Run.
  2. From the list of gateway servers, select a gateway server.
  3. Click Create.
  4. For each tab, select and enter values for the following properties and proceed to Step 5.

    General tab

    Script Information >
    Manager Script FileEnter the name of the manager run script file.
    FolderSelect the folder for the manager run script file.
    Save settings as default

    Save the Script Information settings that you have entered as default for each time you create a run.

    Data Management >
    Options for deleting old and temporary filesClick Data Management. In the Data Management pop-up window, select the applicable properties and click Apply.
    • Delete data older than <n> days
    • Delete temporary files after run: Select temporary files with the listed extensions you want to delete.
    • Compress data older than <n> days
    Service Levels > 
    Enable service levelsSelect the check box to enable the properties below it.
    • Service Levels: Select a service level from the list to apply to the run.
    • View Service Level: Click the button to view details for the selected service level applicable to the run.
    Service LevelsSelect a service level from the list to apply to the run.
    View Service LevelClick the button to view details for the selected service level applicable to the run.
    Analyze tab
    Data source for Analyze >
    Use existing dataEnables and displays the following properties under Analyze existing data:
    • For the last <n> days: Enter the number of days.
    • From <date> to <date>: Enter a from and to date period.
    Collect new data every dayCollects new data everyday, and does not base it on a time period.
    Analyze time interval >
    From: and To: time periodEnter a time period value from <X> Hrs to <Y> Mins to <N> Hrs to <Z> Mins
    in the following time zone:Select a time zone from the list.
    Other properties >
    Output FolderSelect a folder to add Analyze results to.
    New Computer ListClick the button to build a new computer list.
    Add Computer ListClick the button to add a new computer list by either entering a path and clicking Go or from the List of Directories and Files and clicking OK.

    Policy Files for computers and data repositories

    You do not make any selection here. This panel displays the list of policy files added with the computer list.
    Workload tab

    Workload characterization for analyze >

    DefaultUse the default characterization.
    Other workload characterization fileSelect a file from your computer or from another location.
    Collect tab

    Intervals for collection and summarization >

    Collect systems dataSelect the interval in the number of seconds from the list.
    Summarize dataEnter a minute value.
    Collector restart >
    Enable collector restartEnable the restarting.
    Collector restartEnter a minute value to restart the collector in.
    Enable status reportThis box is enabled only when you select Enable collector restart. Generates a status report.
    Transfer duration >
    Allow at<n> Hrs <n> minutes for data. Enter the values for Hours and Minutes.

    Automatic data deletion on agent computer >

    Select the box to enable the Delete data property below it.
    Delete dataAutomatically delete data in <n> days and <n> hours.
    Processing tab
    Analyze settings >
    CPU performance rating basisSelect a basis to measure the performance rating from the list.
    Predict settings >
    Perform automatic calibrationSelect to automatically calibrate Predict.
    Predict command file nameSelect a command file name.
    Cut Disk Options >

    Cut disk function

    Choose any one between On, Off and Default.
    Disk NameEnter the name of the disk.
    MeasurementSelect a metric for cut disk measurement.
    Disk TypeEnter the disk type. For example, GENERIC_DISK.
    ThresholdEnter a numeric threshold.
    Output tab 
    Visualizer options >
    Generate visualizer filesSelect this property to enable all properties under it.
    Visualizer IntervalEnter a value for minutes.
    Analyze

    Select any or all options for Analyze output:

    • Include windows extended metrics
    • ASCII Report
    • XML Report
    Predict

    Select any or all options for Predict output:

    • Include response times
    • ASCII Report
    • XML Report
    Summarize IO server for visualizerSummarize the Input/Output server for the visualizer component.
    Truncate transaction nameTruncate the Visualizer transaction name.
    Export dataEnter the following information for exporting Analyze and Predict data and click Apply.
    • Generate data for export from analyze: Specify the Output Directory.
    • Generate data for export from predict: Specify the Output Directory.

    Schedule the scripts to run >
    At<n> minutes before collection
    Run script >
    OnceEnter a specific date to run the script on.
    Every dayRun the script every day.
    Every<n> day of the month. Enter a value between 1 – 31.
    Every day from<date> to <date>
    Include day >
    Monday – SundaySelect the days on which you want to run the script.

  5. Click Save.
