Activating and deactivating business rules

You can define business rules and set them as Not Active until you are ready to implement them. You can also deactivate an active rule either temporarily or permanently.

Removing business rules

If you want to remove a business rule entirely, you must delete it from the Business Rules page.

To deactivate a business rule

  1. Open the item that contains the rule:
    1. Click the Administration tab.
    2. In the appropriate section, click the name of the container or click Manage to open the container Administration page. Then double-click the container.
    3. In the left pane, click the item link (such as Record Definitions in workspaces).
      The Items page appears. 
    4. Double-click the item that you want to modify.
      The Item details page appears.
  2. In the left pane, click Business Rules.
    Icons for the rules associated with this item appear in the right pane.
  3. Double-click the rule that you want to modify.
    The business rule details page appears. 
  4. Next to the State field, select Not Active.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Publish the container to implement your changes:
    1. In the breadcrumb trail, click the container link.

    2. Click Save and Publish.
      A confirmation message appears.

    3. Click Yes.
      The Publication Succeeded message appears, showing the number of errors and warnings.

To activate a business rule

  1. Open the item that contains the rule.
  2. In the left pane, click Business Rules.
  3. Double-click the rule that you want to modify.
  4. Next to the State field, select Active.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Publish the container to implement your changes:
    1. In the breadcrumb trail, click the container link.

    2. Click Save and Publish.
      A confirmation message appears.

    3. Click Yes.
      The Publication Succeeded message appears, showing the number of errors and warnings.
