Programming considerations for applications
This section discusses application programming issues that you should consider before using your applications with BMC AMI Fast Path Indexer for IMS.
BMC AMI Fast Path Indexer for IMS supports the following functions:
inverted hierarchy for retrieval
IMS status codes
IMS command codes
Boolean operators with sequential processing
use of subsequence fields to force unique SHISAM or HISAM keys
key searches
processing indexes as stand-alone databases
Note
BMC AMI Fast Path Indexer for IMS does not support subset pointers.
If you change your application to accommodate these functions, you might need to use BMC AMI Fast Path Indexer for IMS to perform maintenance on your secondary index databases.
This section contains the following topics:
- BMC AMI Fast Path Indexer for IMS segments
- Using an inverted hierarchy
- Using status codes
- Using command codes
- Using Boolean operators
- Using subsequence fields with SHISAM or HISAM
- Performing key searches
