Requesting services

The service portfolio contains a list of all the available services. The system administrator can segregate the services based on different categories. This makes it easier to locate and request the preferred service quickly. For example, you might want to request for a new laptop, which can be listed under the Hardware category. You can navigate through the Category browser and select Hardware and then request for a new laptop.

Alternatively, you can also request a service from the Service Portfolio home page. You must enable the Category browser to request services.

To enable the Category browser to request services

  1. Click More and select Service Portfolio.
    The Service Portfolio Home page appears.
  2. Click Customize.
  3. On the Service Portfolio console, click the Views tab.
  4. Select Category browser and drag it to the right hand pane near the My Service Portfolios tab.
  5. From the Category Tree list, select a service portfolio category.
  6. From the View Mode list, select the required view.
  7. Click Save.
    You must log in to the FootPrints application again to access the Category browser tab.

To submit a quick request for services from the Category Browser

  1. On the Service Portfolio console, click the Category Browser tab.
    A list of available service categories appears.
  2. Double-click a preferred service category. 
  3. Click Request Service.

To submit a request for services from the Service Portfolio Home page

  1. Click More, and select Service Portfolio.
    The Service Portfolio Home page appears.
  2. Click Actions > New, and select the service portfolio and service item that you want to create.
    The new request page appears at the bottom of the window.
  3. Click a service category to see the services listed under it.
    If subcategories are defined for a service, an arrow appears at the right edge of the service icon. 
  4. Click the arrow to see the next level. Continue clicking until you see the service that you want to request.
  5. Select the service.
    The details of the service appear.
  6. Click Request Service.
    The service request is submitted and appears on the Service Portfolio page.
