Using Chat


If the Chat feature is enabled, you can chat with agents to resolve issues. The Chat window appears at the right side of the FootPrints window. You can collapse this window but not close it. This feature replaces the Instant Talk feature available in earlier releases of FootPrints.

Each chat is one-to-one, meaning that only two people can participate in a chat. Agents can set their availability status so you can easily identify which agents are available to help you.

If needed, you can copy the contents of a Chat window and paste it into another application.

To use chat

  1. Click the Chat bubble or the open icon chat_open_icon.gif at the right side of the browser window.
    The Chat pane expands, showing the agents assigned to your account.
  2. Select a contact and start typing your message.
  3. Click Send.
     An agent will respond as soon as one is available.
  4. To close the Chat pane, click the close icon chat_close_icon.gif or click in the header row.
