(ID 1259) Technical bulletin: IBM APAR OA57049 might cause data integrity issues in some FDR programs
Products | BMC Compuware FDR products |

Version | 5.4.90 |
Date | 2021/06/07 00:00 |
We are alerting users to a problem in the BMC Compuware FDR products.
Issue
IBM APAR OA57049 sometimes changes the behavior of RESERVEs and Release processing for two-site and multi-target Metro Mirror HyperSwap configurations. This IBM option is not compatible with the FDR product processing in the following programs and can lead to data integrity issues:
- FDRPAS
- FDRPASV1 (utility formerly used with FDRPAS to alter the volume label)
- FDRERASE
- FDRINITV (utility used with FDRMOVE to initialize VTOCs)
- FDRVOL1 and FDRVOL9 (utilities used with FDRINSTANT to alter the volume label)
This IBM option is not supported on Metro Global Mirror, Metro Global Mirror with Practice, or the multi-target Metro Mirror - Metro Mirror session types.
Resolution
FDR version 5.4.90 Spin 2 is now available and supports the IBM APAR OA57049. Do not run the FDR programs listed in the Issue section in environments where the IBM option is enabled without installing FDR version 5.4.90 Spin 2.
This version of FDR changes the way RESERVEs are obtained and released using the QNAME FDRRESV for this purpose. These RESERVEs should never be converted to global ENQs. For more information , see the hlq.ICL(ENQ) section IV.A.1, or search in the ENQ member by using keyword FDRRESV.
For additional information about Managing a session with HyperSwap and IBM APAR OA57049, consult the IBM Copy Services Manager documentation.
