Energizer architecture
Energizer uses a multi-tiered architecture that features a console and the User Interface Middleware (UIM) server. These tiers work together, and can vary, based on your site’s installation.
The following figure shows the Energizer architecture:

The console and UIM server work together to provide a graphical user interface (GUI) for BMC products such as Energizer. The UIM server is a TCP/IP application that controls communication between consoles and the mainframe.
The way in which these tiers work together can vary, based on your site’s installation. The UIM server is an SMP/E installable component and is installed on the mainframe by using the Installation System. After the UIM server is installed, configured, and running, the console is downloaded and installed from the UIM to the consoles. The following figure shows a sample environment:
