Installation components and files
BMC Virtual Chat consists of several key components that are included in the downloaded installation files.
Components
The BMC Virtual Chat installation includes the following components:
- Virtual Chat application: The base program code for the application. This code is distributed as a BMC Remedy AR System definition file named BMCVirtualChat.def.
- ESChat: A Java servlet that is used for the Self Service Portal. ESChat is packaged as a WAR file and is deployed via a Java server, such as Apache Tomcat.
Chat Notification Servlet (CNS): A Java servlet that is used for chat update notifications. CNS is packaged as a WAR file and is deployed via a Java server, such as Apache Tomcat.
Starting in version 9.1.01, this component is packaged as part of the ESChat WAR file.
Chat Translation Servlet (CTS): A Java servlet that is used for translating chat requests. CTS is packaged as a WAR file and is deployed via a Java server, such as Apache Tomcat.
Starting in version 9.1.01, this component is packaged as part of the ESChat WAR file.
- Program D: A Java chat robot (chatbot). Program D is packaged as a WAR file and is deployed via a Java server, such as Apache Tomcat.
- HTTP Resources: Support files, such as image and sound files, used by BMC Virtual Chat
- Java Plugin Files: Java JAR files used by BMC Remedy AR System
- Other Application Files: Other files required for the installation, including the integration workflow definition file, configuration file examples, Program D components, and the chatalerts application
Files
The BMC Virtual Chat product files are contained in the following folders of the installation package that you download from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website.
- arconfigexamples: Sample files that aid in the configuration process. Cut and paste information from these sample files when editing the ar.cfg and pluginsvr_config.xml files.
- chatalerts: The chatalerts application, which is an optional module that is installed on the support agent's desktop so that the agent can be notified when a chat session is initiated. It is not required for the main application installation.
- ESDVFBase: Contains a JAR file and an XML file that control the Data Visualization Fields (DVF) in the application
- javaplugins: Contains four Java plug-in files
- license: End user license agreements
- misc: Patches, integration notes, and the definition file for BMC Remedy IT Service Management integration
- resources: HTML, image, and sound files.
- var: Additional ProgramD files used for the virtual agent AIML response engine
- warfiles: Application WAR files deployed via Apache Tomcat
