Granting permission to log on as a service for installation on the SQL Server database with Windows authentication

If you are planning to install TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform with the Microsoft SQL Server database with Windows authentication, you must grant permission to log on as a service. This is required because when you install a service under a domain user account, the account must have the permission to log on as a service on the local computer. This permission applies to the local computer, and it must be granted in the local security policy.

To grant the permission, you must edit the local security policy of the Windows computer where you want to install TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform. Do the following:

  1. Log on to the computer with administrative privileges.
  2. In the Control Panel, go to Security > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy.
  3. Expand Local Policies and then click User Rights Assignment.
  4. In the right-pane, right-click Log on as a service, and then click Properties.
  5. Click Add User or Group.
  6. In the Enter the object names to select field, type an object name.

Note: The object name must not be listed in the Deny log on as a service policy

Ensure that the object name is not listed in the Deny log on as a service policy under Local Security Policy.

  7. Click OK
  8. In the Log on as a service Properties dialog box, click OK to save your changes.
