Selecting server objects

The Server Objects list lets you choose server objects that form the basis of a Snapshot Job. It also lets you limit the server objects you select, and it lets you choose the types of object attributes you want to snapshot.

The Server Objects list lets you select any custom configuration object that is available on the target server.

To select server objects

  1. Using the Server Objects list, perform one of the following actions:
    • Add a new server object by clicking Add g_V95_AddIcon.gif.
    • Modify an existing server object by selecting the object and clicking Update g_V95_UpdateIcon.gif.
    • Delete an existing server object by selecting the object and clicking Delete g_V95_DeleteIcon.gif. The selected object is removed from the Server Objects list.
  2. If you selected Add in the previous step, perform one of the following actions in the Select Server Objects dialog box:
    • Using the server tree on the left, select one or more server objects. Click the right arrow.
    • To add a server object without searching through the tree on the left, click Add Newg_V95_NewJob.gif. The New Server Object dialog box opens. Use the dialog box to specify a server object by browsing or entering its path. For more information, see Rules-for-entering-paths.
  3. If you selected Update in step 1, in the Update Server Objects dialog box, click the the Browse button on the right, navigate the server node and select the appropriate asset.
  4. Click OK.
The server objects you have defined appear in the Server Objects list.
  5. If you are adding hierarchical server objects such as directories, and you want those server objects to include all subfolders, select those server objects. Then check Recurse subfolders at the bottom of the Includes/Excludes list.
Selecting this option instructs the system to include all objects subordinate to the server object you have selected in the Server Objects list.

    Note

On target IBM AIX servers of version 5.3 with certain Technology Levels (TL) and Service Packs (SP), do not recurse the /proc directory. For more information, refer to IBM documentation for APAR IZ45882 and APAR IZ45883.
