Obtaining the Contributory PCI FIM Component Template

You can obtain a set of predefined OS-specific PCI FIM component templates from the BMC community group at https://communities.bmc.com. These templates are a contributory offer to the BMC community and are not a supported product or product feature. However, BMC recommends using these templates as a time-saving way to start building a customized set of component templates. The following sections describe how to obtain the contributory component templates and develop a PCI FIM program using them:

To download the contributory component templates

  1. Open an Internet browser on the Application Server host or on a system that has access to the Application Server.
  2. Go to https://communities.bmc.com.
  3. If you have an account with BMC Communities, log on. Otherwise, follow the instructions on the page to create an account and then log on.

    Note

To access contributory content, you must have an account and log on.

  4. After logging in, go to the following location:
    BMC communities

  5. Select the correct version number for your TrueSight Server Automation installation.
  6. To download the content, click the contributory content zip file.
  7. In the downloaded content, locate the PCI FIM templates zip file and save it to the Application Server host or to another server that has access to the Application Server. The file name is similar to pci-fim-templates-8.1.0.51.zip.

To extract the contributory content files:

Warning

Note

The examples in this document assume that the downloaded file resides on the Application Server host.

  1. On the Application Server host, create a directory that is close to the system root to be the target for the zip file extraction. For example, create the following directory: C:/FIM

    Warning

Because of the length of the path names that TrueSight Server Automation assigns to remediation packages, extract the files to a directory as near to the system root as possible.

  2. Extract all FIM files into the directory you created in Step 1. The result should be similar to the following example.
    worddav0d36b8f4ec522447dc51c96e52324694.png
  3. Check the directory structure for square brackets [ ] in directory names. If you see brackets, rename the directory or recreate the structure to eliminate that directory. (The brackets appear in certain cases, depending on the method by which you obtained and extracted the zip file. Brackets in a directory name cause the blcli commands that load the content to fail.)

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
