Assigning multiple managed servers to a server group using a text file

You can assign multiple managed servers to a server group simultaneously though a text file using a comma-separated values (CSV) format. These servers have either been added manually (see Adding-a-server-to-the-system) or imported through a text file (see Importing-servers-into-the-system).

You do not need the Server.Create authorization to perform this operation.

To assign multiple managed servers to a server group using a text file

  1. Open the Servers folder.
  2. Right-click the server group to which you want to assign the managed servers and select Import Servers to Group from the pop-up menu.
    The Import Servers wizard opens.
  3. In the Import Servers panel, browse to the text file (in CSV format) containing the servers list.
To create a server import text file using a CSV format, use the following syntax:
    • The first line of the file must contain the column header Name.
    • Subsequent lines of the file must contain valid imported server name for each server you want to assign.
The following sample file assigns the existing two managed servers to the server group.

      Name
      ManagedServer_Austin
      ManagedServer_Huston
  4. Select the Add only existing servers to the group option, and click Finish.

    Important

When you select this option, the other options in the panel are disabled and no other actions are performed.
