Patch Downloader utility for IBM AIX

The Patch Downloader is available from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website.

The downloader is either aix_downloader.bat1 (for running on Microsoft Windows) or aix_downloader.sh (for running on AIX). To install, extract the file and place it in a directory on the server.

Either this utility must be run on an AIX platform, or the Repository Location field in the patch catalog must be on an AIX platform. If both are not on AIX platforms, you cannot create an AIX patch catalog.

Note

  • The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for AIX is not included with TrueSight Server Automation. Before running the downloader for AIX, you must download and install a licensed copy of JRE version 11.0.17+8.
  • 1IBM no longer supports fixget for AIX version 6.x and later. Therefore, TrueSight Sever Automation does not support fixget for downloading patch catalogs for AIX version 6.x and later. The Patch Downloader works only on AIX repository server, not on Windows.
  • As TrueSight Sever Automation does not support fixget, you can no longer use aix_downloader to obtain a list of Technology Levels and Service Packs.
