Creating routing rules for job execution

This topic was edited by a BMC Contributor and has not been approved.  More information.

You can define rules to determine the Application Servers to be used for processing jobs. When you run the jobs that are a part of a batch job, they use the same routing rules that are defined for the batch job. If routing rules do not exist for the batch job, any other rules that apply to the member jobs are not triggered.

Note

To create, modify or delete job execution rules, your role must be granted the following authorizations: RoutingPolicy.Modify and BL_Administration.Read

To create rules to determine Application Servers to use for job execution

  1. Select Configuration > Infrastructure Management.
  2. In the left pane of the Infrastructure Management window, right-click the Job Execution Rules node and select New Rule. The New Rule wizard opens.
  3. Complete the New Rule Wizard, as described in the following sections:
  4. Click Finish to close the New Rule wizard.
Your rule is saved and applied to job execution within the next few minutes (this might take up to about 15 minutes).
  5. Click Close to close the Infrastructure Management window.

    Note

If you change the value of a String Enumeration property of a job, then it might take upto 15 minutes for the value to get reflected in the routing rules.
