Patch Downloader utility for Oracle Enterprise Linux


The Patch Downloader utility for Oracle Enterprise Linux provided by BMC uses a configuration file to download metadata and payload from the Oracle website.

Creation of a patch catalog requires that the following packages are pre-installed on the server that hosts the patch repository:

Note

The versions above were used for testing and validation. Later versions of these packages are known to work but have not been officially qualified with the product.

The downloader is either .bat for running on Microsoft Windows (oel_downloader.bat) or .sh for running on UNIX (oel_downloader.sh or rpm_downloader.sh) depending on whether it an Oracle Linux Unbreakable Linux Network (OL ULN) repository or a Public repository:

6.x

  • The Public repository is supported only in offline mode. The Oracle Linux Unbreakable Linux Network (OL ULN) repository is not supported.
  • Use oel_downloader to run the patch downloader utility.

7.x

  • The OL ULN repository is supported in both offline and online modes. In the offline mode, use rpmlinux_downloader to run the patch downloader utility.  
  • The Public repository is supported only in offline mode. Use oel_downloader to run the patch downloader utility. 

8.x

  • The OL ULN repository is supported in both offline and online modes. In the offline mode, use rpmlinux_downloader to run the patch downloader utility. 
  • The Public repository is not supported.
