Installing the script-based patching solution for Solaris 11
Use the following steps to install the script-based solution for the management of Solaris 11 patches. During installation, scripts are stored in the depot and an extended object is imported into the Configuration Object Dictionary.
To install the script-based patching solution for Solaris 11
- From the package of optional product components (for example, TSSA2002-Optional.zip) that you obtained from the EPD site, extract the package for Solaris 11 patching, for example, TSSA-SOL11-Patch-Solution-20.02.00.zip, and store it in a temporary location.
- Extract the TSSA-SOL11-Patch-Solution-<version_number>.zip file locally on the host computer of the TrueSight Server Automation Application Server, into the NSH directory (typically C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BladeLogic\NSH or /opt/bmc/bladelogic/NSH).
The extracted top-level Solaris11_Script-<version> directory contains a sub-directory named Scripts. Through a command prompt, run the install.nsh utility from within the Solaris11_Script-<version> directory. Use the following command:
nsh Install.nsh -u <user> -p <password> -r <role> -v <profile>Option
Description
-u user
The user to run the installation.
-p password
A valid password for the specified user.
-r role
The user's role.
This option is necessary only if the user performing the installation was assigned multiple roles.-v profile
A specific profile to use during installation, if you want to override the use of defaultProfile.
A subfolder named Solaris11 Patching Solution is created in the Depot folder. This folder contains a Script subfolder with two NSH scripts — the Solaris 11 Update Repository script and the Solaris 11 Patching script.
In addition, an extended object named Solaris 11 Analysis Results, which you can later use to view patching analysis results through Live Browse, is imported into the Configuration Object Dictionary.
