Monitoring parameter configuration best practices

The following chart illustrates how the recommendations in the Monitoring configuration best practice reference section must be considered in an aggregate manner. Use this chart as a guide to understand the various configuration settings and when to apply these settings. Note that the example parameters are not an exhaustive list.

Note

Filtering all data and events for a parameter does not mean that the PATROL Agent stops collecting data. BMC PATROL still collects data and the data will be visible in the Infrastructure Management graphs. This assumes the data was not initially streamed before filtering was enabled.
