Viewing a Device Adapter Capabilities report

The Device Adapter Capabilities report provides information about enabled device type and custom action adapters. You can use this report to determine what sorts of features are supported by the adapters and to help understand job behavior and error messages. See Supported devices for the Device Adapter Capability report of the supported Network Automation versions.

Tip

You can also view this report for a single adapter by using one of the following methods:

  • Click Network > Devices, click a device name, and then click the device type name to display all the information about the device type, as shown in the following figure:

     

  • Click Admin > Device Adapters, and then click View on any adapter to display all the information, as well as the XML source code.

To generate a Device Adapter Capabilities report

  1. Open the Device Adapter Capabilities Report wizard page by navigating to Reports > Support Reports > Device Adapter Capabilities.
  2. NEW IN 8.9.03Optionally. enter an annotation (to identify this report when it appears in a list among other reports) and click to enable a notification email to be sent to you when the report is ready to view.
  3. Select the Device Adapters to display in the report:
    1. Device Types: Select which enabled device types to display:
      1. All: Selects all enabled device types.
      2. Baseline/Modified: Selects device types that were originally shipped with the product.
      3. New: Selects device types added by your site.
      4. For Vendor: Selects all device types for a selected vendor.
      5. One or More Selected: Selects specific device types.
    2. Custom Actions: Select which enabled custom actions to display:
      1. All: Selects all enabled custom actions.
      2. Baseline/Modified: Selects custom actions that were originally shipped with the product.
      3. New: Selects custom actions added by your site.
      4. For Menu Group: Selects custom actions for a selected menu grouping.
  4. Select the Device Type Information or Custom Action Information to include in the report.
    • All: Shows all the information in the report. This forces the report to be presented in a non-tabular format.
    • Selected: Enables you to select one or more specific attributes of interest.

      Note

      Remediate appears as a standard action in the report when the device supports Deploy to Active on the running trail or a template, Deploy to Stored on the startup trail or a template, Deploy OS Image, or any custom action that can be executed through the browser.

  5. Select Next to select the report format.

  6. Select Tabular Format to view the report in a tabular format. Each attribute you selected on the previous page will be displayed in a sortable column in the report.
    You can set the order of the columns by using Move Up and Move Down.
  7. (Optional) Clear Tabular Format to view the report in a non-tabular format.
  8. Click Next to begin the report generation and NEW IN 8.9.03to display its progress on the Report Activity page.
  9. Click Refresh until the report is completed, or wait until you receive the notification email. If the report is aborted, the Progress column indicates so, to alert you that the report data is partial. You can view the partial report, but be aware it is partial. You should refine your selections (if you asked for too-large a report) or re-generate the report (if it was aborted due to a system shutdown) in order to obtain a complete report. Then delete the aborted report as soon as possible. For more information about the Report Activity page, see Viewing report activity.
  10. Click the Device Adapter Capabilities link in the Report column to display the report.

  11. Verify the report is complete. If the report was aborted, the title and the Report Generation information in the footer inform you so, and the footer informs you about the user who aborted it. An aborted report will be missing one or more device adapters.
  12. (Optional) Perform one of the following tasks by using the menu options that are available on the Device Adapter Capabilities report page:

    Menu option

    Back (Applicable for 8.9.02 and earlier versions)
    Refine (Applicable for 8.9.03 and later versions)

    Return to the wizard to change report parameters and generate a new version of the report.
    Print ViewPrint a copy of the report.
    Export

    Export the report to one of the following formats:

    • CSV
      Note: This format is available only when you generate the report in tabular format.
    • HTML
    • PDF
    • RTF
    EmailEmail the report to one or more recipients in one of the export formats.
