Automatically generating an options.txt file

Before you can run the installer in silent mode, you must create an options.txt file to identify the options that you want the installer to include in the installation or upgrade.

To create an options.txt file

  1. Run an installation on a computer that you want to use as a model for silent installations on other computers.
  2. Use one of the following methods to create the options.txt file:

    Make the installer generate an options file based on the current installation.

    Add the following option to the command line when you run the installer: -DGENERATE_OPTIONS_FILE=<OutputOptionsFileName>.txt

    Create an options.txt file from an installation log.

    1. In the BCAN_HOME\utility directory, double-click BcanMaintenanceTool.cmd to access the Maintenance tool.
    2. On the Logs tab, click Install Log.
    3. From the installation log, click the tab of the installation run from which you want to generate an options file.
    4. Select File > Save As.
    5. From the Save As Type list, select Project Options File.
    6. Enter a file name, and click OK.

    Create an options.txt file from an installed configuration XML file.

    1. In the BCAN_HOME\utility directory, double-click BcanMaintenanceTool.cmd to access the Maintenance tool.
    2. On the Logs tab, click Browse to Log.
    3. In the left pane, double-click the BcanInstalledConfiguration.xml file.
    4. Select File > Save As.
    5. From the Save As Type list, select Project Options File.
    6. Enter a file name, and click OK.
