Random characters displayed as application name on the Applications page

A port scanning tool, such as that used by antivirus software, might display an application name that appears to be random characters.

Issue

The Applications page has an automatically discovered application with a name that appears to be random characters.

Probable cause

The App Visibility agent captures transaction data during a port scan, such as that used by antivirus software.

Resolution

You can resolve this issue in one of the following ways:

• Add an application discovery rule to discard the application with the unexpected name
• Delete the application, which prevents it from being displayed in the TrueSight console. If the application is automatically discovered again, contact Customer Support to discard it, permanently.
