Real User Application Visibility is designed to integrate with a variety of application-monitoring solutions (in the BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring web interface, called Application Visibility servers).
The system can support connections with up to 20 Application Visibility servers.

To add an Application Visibility server

To connect the system to a back-end application-monitoring solution, you must add an Application Visibility server.

To perform this procedure, you must have Operator-level access, or higher.

  1. In the Real User Analyzer, point to Administration > Integration, and then click Application Visibility servers.

  2. On the Action menu, click Add.
  3. Type the URL of the application-monitoring product interface.
  4. Select one of the following authentication methods:
    • If you select None, the system does not send any credentials to the application-monitoring product.
    • If you select Basic, the system sends Username and Password credentials to the application-monitoring product via HTTP basic authentication.
    • If you select Form-based, the system sends Username and Password credentials to the application-monitoring product as query-string parameters (for GET requests) or POST parameters (for POST requests), named username and password accordingly.

For Basic or Form-based authentication, type a user name and password for the application-monitoring product.
  5. Click Save.

To set up integration with Application Visibility servers in dynaTrace

If you use dynaTrace as application-monitoring product, the system displays additional controls to configure the integration. These controls appear when you edit the configuration.

  1. On the shortcut menu of a given dynaTrace server, click Edit.
  2. For the dynaTrace server interface with BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring, perform the following steps:

    1. Type the DNS host name (or IP address) of the dynaTrace server, and the web server port number.
The default port number is 8020.
    2. If you want to use a secure connection, select the corresponding check box.
This interface is for the flow of data between dynaTrace and the Session Browser.
  3. For interfaces with the dynaTrace client and the web browser, perform the following steps:
    • If these interfaces are the same as above (in other words, as the interface with BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring), leave the check box selected.

    • Otherwise, do the following:
      1. Type the DNS Host name (or IP address) of the dynaTrace server, and the web server port number.
This interface is for the dynaTrace server connection with the dynaTrace client.
      2. Type the client services port number.
This interface is for the dynaTrace server connection with the browser running the BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring interface.

      3. If you want to use a secure connection, select the corresponding check box.
  4. Click Save.
